Kuwait's "Hand of Youth" faces Iran in the opening of the Asian Championship

Kuwait’s national team faces Iran tomorrow, Wednesday, in Group 2 of the 19th Asian Youth Handball Championship, which runs until July 26 in the Chinese city of Chuzhou. The tournament also serves as qualifiers for the 26th IHF World Men’s Junior Handball Championship (under-21), scheduled for June 23 to July 4, 2027, in North Macedonia, with the top four teams qualifying for the World Cup.
In the same group, Qatar plays South Korea, and Japan faces the United Arab Emirates. In Group 1, Saudi Arabia meets Oman, Chinese Taipei takes on Bahrain, and China plays Hong Kong.
According to the schedule, the “Blue Team” will face India on July 17, Japan on July 19, South Korea on July 20, Qatar on July 21, and conclude the group stage against the UAE on July 22.
The youth national team began training in late April following the decision to resume sports activities, which continued until the end of June. They then held a three-week training camp in Slovenia and Croatia before returning to Kuwait and traveling to China to participate in the championship.
Upon arriving in China, the players conducted training sessions at the sports complex, focusing on technical and physical aspects to adapt to the tournament environment.
Despite being placed in a difficult group, the players aim to start the championship strongly and secure one of the qualification spots for the 2027 World Junior Handball Championship by competing for top positions in Asia.
