Sisi to Tamim bin Hamad: The Amir al-Walid has provided sustained contributions to achieve Qatar's renaissance

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in Doha, conveyed his sincere condolences to Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the passing of the former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, affirming “Egypt’s steadfast support and solidarity, both as leadership and people, with the leadership and people of the sisterly State of Qatar during this painful moment.”

The Egyptian Presidency stated in a bulletin that el-Sisi “praised the enduring contributions of the former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, toward achieving development, progress, and prosperity in the State of Qatar,” and prayed “to God Almighty to protect Qatar from all harm and evil, and to perpetuate upon it the blessings of security, stability, and prosperity, under the wise leadership of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.”

For his part, Tamim bin Hamad expressed his deep appreciation for el-Sisi’s visit and condolences, affirming “the close fraternal relations” and praising “the historical ties between the two peoples.”

At the conclusion of his visit to Doha, el-Sisi traveled to Manama, where he held talks with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, on “ways to continue joint efforts to reduce regional tensions and restore stability in the region.”

He affirmed that “the security of Arab states is an extension of Egypt’s national security,” commending “the wisdom demonstrated by Bahrain under the enlightened leadership of King Hamad bin Isa in maintaining stability in the region.”

In a judicial development, the Bahrain Supreme Criminal Court handed down life sentences to three defendants accused of conspiring with the “Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps” and carrying out hostile acts against the Kingdom.

It also issued prison sentences of up to five years for ten other defendants, convicted of committing “acts of violence and sabotage in coordination with the despicable Iranian attacks on the country.”
