Aoun and Salam: Broad and full Lebanese solidarity with Gulf states and Jordan against the heinous aggression

The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, condemned the repeated attacks targeting the sister countries of the Arab Gulf, the latest of which was the heinous attack against the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the targeting of the sister Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In a statement, Aoun said, “We view these hostile acts as overt, multi-sourced attempts that not only target the security and sovereignty of the Kingdom and the targeted states, but also systematically seek to undermine the stability of the Arab Gulf region and keep the entire area in a state of constant tension and anxiety, thereby serving agendas that do not wish well for our Arab peoples. In light of the historical and fraternal ties that bind us to our brothers, we today reaffirm the broad and full Lebanese solidarity—officially and popularly—with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with all the Gulf Arab countries, and with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. We consider the security and stability of these countries an inseparable part of Arab national security, and any infringement on the sovereignty of our brothers is an infringement on Lebanon’s and the Arab world’s strategic depth.”

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam also strongly condemned the attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, describing them as a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and as a direct threat to the security and stability of the entire region, as well as to international peace and security, which cannot be justified under any pretext.

He stated, “While we reaffirm our full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, government, and people, we declare our steadfast support for it in the face of any threat to its security and sovereignty. We fully support its right to take whatever measures it deems necessary to protect its territory, citizens, and interests, in accordance with its legitimate right to self-defense.”

He concluded by saying, “The continuation of these attacks reveals a dangerous determination to undermine efforts aimed at establishing security and stability in the Arab Gulf.”
