Despite Challenges, Electricity Authority Meets Demand
- Rising temperatures and repeated targeting have not deterred the ministry from maintaining the continuity of electricity supply
While the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy is making strenuous efforts to manage electrical loads in order to meet the country’s power needs, particularly amid the severe heat wave currently affecting the nation, informed sources revealed that technical teams have completed repairs to overhead lines damaged by shrapnel from Iran’s baseless aggression.
Sources stated that “despite the challenges facing the ministry, these obstacles have not deterred ministry officials from fulfilling their duty to ensure the continuous supply of electricity to all customers around the clock.”
The sources pointed to comprehensive coordination among the ministry’s sectors to ensure the delivery of its services to all consumers, attributing the ministry’s success in this regard to several measures taken to reduce consumption rates, especially during peak hours. These measures include mandating factories to reduce their production lines during peak periods and shortening working hours to six hours instead of seven during the summer months.
They highlighted the positive outcomes achieved by the ministry following the implementation of the project to increase interconnection capacity with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interconnection Authority grid, which has enabled the country to import larger quantities of energy compared to previous years.
Sources noted that the ministry is preparing and implementing future projects aimed at reducing consumption rates during the summer as much as possible, in parallel with executing production projects according to their scheduled timelines.
On the same level, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy has sent awareness messages to consumers via the “Sahel” app, urging them to conserve electricity to enhance grid stability and ensure uninterrupted service for all, through the following measures:
• Set air conditioning units to 24 degrees Celsius or higher in unused rooms.
