Police investigate the death of Adams

South African police have opened an investigation into the death of midfielder Jayden Adams, star of Mamelodi Sundowns and the South African national football team, who died at the age of 25, just two weeks after representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Adams was found dead inside a house in Cape Town last Saturday. Police confirmed that the cause of death has not yet been determined and that an official investigation has been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a statement, the police said: “The Cape Town Central Police Station opened a case after the body of a 25-year-old man was found on Saturday.”
A poignant video circulated on social media showed Adams sitting in the locker room while his teammates in the Bafana Bafana national team celebrated their victory over South Korea, a win that secured South Africa’s advancement to the knockout stages of the World Cup.
Adams played in all three of South Africa’s group stage matches before being left on the bench for the Round of 32 game, which the team lost 1-0 to Canada.
