The second West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman until July 21, kicks off on Tuesday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher, with seven teams competing for the title, including Kuwait.

The tournament opens with a Group 2 match between Oman and Lebanon at 7:30 p.m.

Competition continues on July 16 with two matches: the first between Iraq and Syria, and the second between Oman and Saudi Arabia, as part of the race for semi-final qualification.

On the fourth day of the tournament, Syria faces Qatar, the defending champions, while Saudi Arabia takes on Lebanon. The group stage concludes on July 18 with two matches: Kuwait against Qatar, and Oman against Iraq.

July 19 is designated as a rest day. The knockout stages begin on July 20 with a match to determine fifth and sixth place between the third-placed teams from Group 1 and Group 2, alongside two semi-final matches: the Group 1 winner faces the Group 2 runner-up, and the Group 1 runner-up faces the Group 2 winner. The championship concludes on July 21 with matches to determine third and fourth place, and the final to crown the champion of the second edition.

The tournament is played in a single round-robin format within each group, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals to compete for the title.
