Kuwaiti-Saudi coordination to enhance the efficiency of land border crossings
Amid growing land trade activity between the two countries, Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have intensified their joint coordination to develop land border crossings and enhance cooperation in transport and customs procedures, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and boosting logistical service efficiency.
In this context, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahab, discussed with Saudi transport and customs officials ways to strengthen cooperation in land transport and customs coordination. This took place during his leadership of the Kuwaiti delegation at a meeting held via video conference with Dr. Ramih Al-Ramih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Eng. Suhail Abanmi, Governor of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA).
The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that Major General Al-Wahab emphasized the commitment of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif to enhancing cooperation with the Kingdom in the field of land transport.
Al-Wahab also expressed Kuwait’s gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the significant facilitations provided to facilitate the movement of goods through land border crossings, particularly in light of the current regional situation, which underscores the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries.
The meeting addressed the operations of land border crossings and the movement of goods between the two countries, reviewing the capacity of the crossings and the number of loaded trucks crossing them daily, according to customs statistics, as well as the procedures in place and ways to develop them to keep pace with the growing volume of trade.
The two sides discussed mechanisms to enhance joint coordination and address any obstacles that might affect the smooth flow of transport, without compromising customs and supervisory requirements. They emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and holding regular meetings to enhance the efficiency of operations at land border crossings and serve the interests of the two brotherly countries.
The Kuwaiti delegation included Yusuf Khaled Al-Nuwaif, Head of the General Customs Administration; Saleh Mohammed Al-Omar, Vice President for Customs Research and Investigation Affairs; Brigadier General Abdullah Mohammed Al-Ajmi, Director General of the General Administration of International Relations; and several security and customs leaders, along with a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
