262 Students Enroll in the Research Institute Summer Course
The 47th summer training course, organized by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), has launched with the participation of 262 students, including 208 high school students and 54 university students. This initiative is part of the institute’s ongoing efforts to develop youth skills and strengthen their interest in scientific research.
Mona Al-Filikaawi, Director of the Workforce Development Department at KISR, emphasized that the course continues the institute’s mission to promote scientific culture and instill concepts of research and innovation among younger generations. She noted a significant surge in participation this year, with 1,120 registration applications received, reflecting the program’s growing prestige and the public’s confidence in the institute’s role in preparing and qualifying youth, after more than four decades of organizing this course.
Al-Filikaawi explained that the program provides a comprehensive educational and research environment that helps identify promising talents and hone participants’ skills by combining theoretical aspects with practical applications within the institute’s laboratories and research facilities. She stressed that investing in human capital is the cornerstone of achieving sustainable development, and that KISR continues, through such initiatives, to prepare qualified national cadres capable of supporting the trajectory of development and innovation in the State of Kuwait. She also expressed her appreciation for the support provided by the program’s sponsors, commending their effective contributions to supporting and developing human resources.
For his part, Dr. Ayoub Taher, Director of the Summer Training Course, confirmed that the course includes a comprehensive scientific program featuring lectures and practical workshops covering various scientific fields. These are designed to develop students’ scientific and creative thinking skills, enhance their teamwork abilities, and familiarize them with the research activities and scientific disciplines undertaken by the institute.
Taher added that the program focuses on linking theoretical knowledge with practical application through the implementation of activities and scientific experiments in laboratories and research facilities. This approach enables participants to experience a rich educational environment that enhances their skills, fosters their passion for science, research, and innovation, and helps them explore future academic and professional pathways. This, in turn, supports the preparation of a generation of national competencies capable of contributing to achieving sustainable development in Kuwait.
