Ministry of Commerce Targets 80% Governance Implementation by 2026 and 2027

KUNA – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued a decision on Sunday to form a Corporate Governance Team, chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry and comprising directors of relevant departments and specialists in governance programs, as part of efforts to follow up on the implementation of the National Corporate Governance Program with the Civil Service Bureau.

The ministry stated that the implementation rate of corporate governance within the ministry reached 61 percent in 2025, an increase of 8 percent compared to 2024.

It emphasized its commitment to raising the implementation rate to 80 percent during 2026 and 2027 by enhancing institutional capacity development and intensifying training programs aimed at improving employees’ skills in applying governance principles, as well as establishing a clear regulatory framework to support the strengthening of governance principles.

The ministry added that the team aims to promote a culture of corporate governance within the ministry by raising awareness of its principles across all its sectors, enabling active participation through involving employees and relevant stakeholders in decision-making processes, and fostering a collaborative work environment that contributes to improving institutional performance.

It further noted that the team also contributes to building a clear accountability system to ensure efficient institutional performance, clarify responsibilities and authorities at all levels of the ministry, and improve the quality of services provided by applying best governance standards.
