Kuwait Communications Authority Reaches Understanding with Huawei

The Public Authority for Communications and Information Technology (PACTI) signed a memorandum of understanding with Huawei Technologies Kuwait, a move aimed at enhancing cooperation in the fields of communications and information technology, and supporting digital transformation in Kuwait, in line with the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035 and to strengthen the development of an innovation-based digital economy.

Al-Zamil emphasized in a statement that the memorandum with Huawei, as one of the leading global companies in the communications sector, represents an important step toward exploring the latest advancements in communications technologies, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, and leveraging them to develop the country’s digital infrastructure.

He added that the cooperation aligns with the objectives of Kuwait Vision 2035, contributes to supporting innovation, enhancing the competitiveness of the communications sector, and empowering national cadres to acquire expertise and skills in modern technologies, thereby serving sustainable economic development.

They clarified that these technologies will drive a shift from traditional reactive models to proactive services, through the use of personal AI agents, reducing response times, and expanding coverage.

They stressed that the future infrastructure aims to serve individuals, households, and the business sector, ensuring a stable upload speed of no less than 20 megabits per second for 95% of users, by integrating advanced fifth-generation (5G) technologies with artificial intelligence.

They noted that the number of mobile phone subscriptions reached 7.72 million by the end of 2025, equivalent to 153% of the total population, while the penetration rate of mobile internet usage stood at 99.9%.
