Qatar bids farewell to the Emir Emeritus Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa; Tamim bin Hamad leads the mourners

The State of Qatar mourned the late founding Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away today, Sunday, at the age of 74.

The Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, led the funeral prayer for the nation’s great loss at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in the capital, Doha.

According to the agency, the funeral prayer was also led by the Deputy Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, along with sheikhs, ministers, senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and large crowds of citizens and residents.

The Qatari Diwan Al Amiri had previously announced that the Emir of Qatar would receive condolences at Lusail Palace starting tomorrow, Monday, for a period of three days. It also declared a general mourning period of four days, during which work in ministries, government entities, and public institutions would be suspended.
