Ministry of Interior: Citizen arrested for possession of drugs and psychoactive substances with intent to consume and trade in acts contrary to public morals

It was noted that “as part of the ongoing efforts of the Criminal Security Sector to apprehend violators and lawbreakers and combat negative phenomena, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, represented by the Counter-Trafficking in Persons and Negative Phenomena Department, arrested a citizen working as a dentist on charges of possessing narcotic and psychotropic substances with intent to consume and trade them.”

It was clarified that “the incident involved the suspect exploiting social media platforms to advertise narcotics and psychotropic substances and offer them in exchange for engaging in acts contrary to public morals. Based on thorough investigations and intensified surveillance and monitoring, a well-planned ambush was set, resulting in the suspect’s arrest in the act in one of the rented rooms. Inside the premises, two bags containing pieces of cannabis were found in his possession, along with three bags containing methamphetamine, 10 capsules of Lyrica, a bag containing a powdered narcotic, as well as paraphernalia for drug use.”

It was pointed out that “to continue legal procedures and based on a warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, officers proceeded to the suspect’s residence and conducted a search, during which additional hidden quantities were discovered inside his private cabinet, including a plastic container holding methamphetamine, 46 tablets of Captagon, three pieces of cannabis of varying sizes, and a quantity of assorted psychotropic tablets.”
