Kremlin: Trump offered Putin assistance in reaching a settlement on Ukraine

Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov said that U.S. President Donald Trump offered, during a nearly 90-minute phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, assistance in finding a solution to the war in Ukraine.

Ushakov added that Trump made this offer in the context of his participation this week in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in Turkey.

Ushakov clarified that Putin provided Trump with a realistic assessment of the situation on the ground in Ukraine, where Russian military leaders announced on Friday that Russian forces had captured the strategically important city of Kostyantynivka.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the General Staff denied this claim on Saturday, affirming that they still control the city in eastern Ukraine.
