Minister of Social Affairs: Tightening Oversight of Cooperative Societies and Developing Services

Faisal Matar: Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, emphasized the necessity of tightening oversight of all cooperative societies and their branches, continuously monitoring them, and verifying their compliance with approved decisions, circulars, and regulations. She stressed the urgent handling of observed observations and violations, and taking necessary legal action against violators without leniency. This came during a visit to Al-Huwail at the Control and Supervision Center for Cooperative Societies, accompanied by the Acting Deputy Minister of Social Affairs, Faisal Al-Kandari, to review the center’s operational procedures and monitor the progress of work in cooperative societies and their branches. During the visit, Dr. Al-Huwail reviewed the center’s monitoring systems and mechanisms for tracking violations and observations, emphasizing the importance of leveraging modern technologies to enhance oversight and its efficiency, and ensuring rapid response and handling of any infractions identified by the center. She directed strengthening direct coordination between the Control Center and the relevant supervisory departments, intensifying field inspections, and linking the center’s observations with field actions to ensure swift resolution and improve the level of services provided to citizens. Dr. Al-Huwail affirmed that protecting the rights of shareholders and consumers, safeguarding cooperative funds, and enhancing the efficiency of work in cooperative societies are among the ministry’s top priorities, reiterating the commitment to continuing efforts to promote transparency, discipline, and governance in the cooperative sector.
