Chance of occasional thunderstorms from this afternoon until Monday morning

Deputy Director of Meteorology Department: Country affected by strong winds and scattered rain
Translated by Qiyas from القبس — Original source
Deputy Director of the General Authority of Civil Aviation for Meteorology, Derrar Al-Ali, stated that the country is experiencing active winds stirring up dust, with a chance of scattered light to moderate rain, occasionally thunderstorms, starting from Saturday afternoon and continuing until Monday morning. Al-Ali told KUNA that weather maps and numerical models indicate the country is affected by an extension of a moist surface low-pressure system, concurrent with a low-pressure system in the upper atmospheric layers, leading to the proliferation of low and mid-level clouds and activity of southwesterly winds that stir up dust. He noted that visibility will drop below 1,000 meters in some areas, and the winds will cause sea waves to rise to more than six feet. He clarified that cloud cover will gradually increase from Saturday afternoon, interspersed with cumulus clouds accompanied by scattered rain, occasionally thunderstorms, with amounts ranging from light to moderate, and that gradual improvement in weather conditions will begin on Monday morning. Al-Ali emphasized the importance of wearing masks when going out out of necessity, particularly during thunderstorms and the high humidity typical of this season, especially for asthma and allergy sufferers. He urged citizens and residents to follow the meteorological bulletin through the Authority’s official website, its application, and its social media accounts to stay informed about the latest weather developments.
