Government and People as One Hand

Government and People as One Hand
Qiyas summary

The government supports citizens with services and financial aid.

The government loves the people, and the people love the government. Wherever a citizen goes to any Kuwaiti gathering, whether at weddings or majlis, they always hear the phrase, “May God not change our condition upon us,” because citizens and residents on the soil of the state are safe and secure. As for citizens, the government has provided them with all the necessities of life and comfort, foremost among which are housing and food, such as the rationing system, which consists of rice, sugar, and chicken of various types from different companies, in addition to cooking oil and many other items, all at symbolic prices. Furthermore, the state provides treatment and medicine for everyone, both Kuwaitis and residents; I do not believe there is any country that provides free medicine and healthcare to residents like Kuwait does. Additionally, the state grants substantial monthly pensions to elderly Kuwaiti women, as well as to divorced women and widows. It also offers cash grants to young people for marriage, provides rental allowances, and grants a bonus of 50 dinars for every newborn. Indeed, the government fully cares for the Kuwaiti citizen from the cradle to the grave. Loyalty has become mutual between the government and the people, a relationship that has existed since time immemorial. Citizens have said this for many years, particularly when Saddam Hussein occupied Kuwait. At that time, Kuwaiti notables gathered in the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where they stated in that meeting: “We do not accept any alternative to the Al Sabah family.” This phrase, which Kuwaitis have said since the founding of Kuwait, will continue to be said by Kuwaitis until the Day of Resurrection. That phrase is: “May God not change our condition upon us,” and it will remain firmly embedded in the hearts of Kuwaitis. I recall a Kuwaiti student speaking with an American student about the benefits provided by the Kuwaiti government to citizens. He told him that the government covers his university expenses and provides him with a monthly allowance of approximately 3,600 dollars for personal spending, from which he saves money. The American student replied, “I wish I were like you, a Kuwaiti.” Those who forged their citizenship did so to obtain the many privileges of Kuwaiti citizenship, such as housing and loans. However, our wise government pursued them and revoked those forged nationalities. This difficult task was carried out by Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, who succeeded in making Kuwait for Kuwaitis and cleansing the country of them. The country is now free of those impostors who had clung to it. Yaqoub Yousef Al-Omar
