Mae Al-Sukari: The Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait, Jose A. Cabrera III, confirmed that the embassy has not received any official requests from the Kuwaiti government to increase the number of Filipino medical and health personnel working in the country. He clarified that the recruitment of medical, health, and healthcare sector workers to Kuwait is conducted through Kuwaiti institutions and companies operating in this field, via private recruitment agencies in the Philippines.

In a statement to Al-Qabas, Cabrera noted that health cooperation between the two countries extends beyond supplying human resources to the health sector, encompassing humanitarian and community initiatives that strengthen solidarity between the two friendly peoples. He emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination to serve the Kuwaiti community and enhance the contributions of the Filipino community in humanitarian initiatives.

In this context, the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, in collaboration with the Philippine Nurses and Paramedics Association in Kuwait (PANIK), organized a blood donation drive in support of the Ministry of Health’s blood donation program, in coordination with the Blood Transfusion Cooperation Center at Adan Hospital. The drive, held on October 30 at the Blood Transfusion Cooperation Center in Adan Hospital, involved 50 donors from the Filipino community and resulted in the collection of 41 units of blood. This initiative reflects a spirit of social responsibility and humanitarian solidarity, contributing to meeting the needs of Kuwait’s health sector.

The embassy team was led by Ambassador Jose A. Cabrera III, accompanied by First Secretary and Consul Alex O. Vallespin, Second Secretary and Consul Aaron Eric A. Luzada, Labor Attaché Sofia E. Matute, along with several embassy staff members.

The embassy expressed its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Ministry of Health, the Blood Transfusion Cooperation Center at Adan Hospital, the PANIK association, the Filipino community and its institutions, and all donors and contributors who helped ensure the success of the drive, commending their efforts in supporting health and humanitarian initiatives.

The embassy reaffirmed its continued commitment to community initiatives that strengthen ties between the Filipino community and Kuwaiti society, and that promote values of giving, mutual support, and humanitarian work, reflecting the depth of relations between the two countries and both sides’ commitment to expanding cooperation, particularly in the health sector and related fields serving the community.
