The national handball team has launched its initial preparatory steps for participation in the World Championship scheduled to take place in Germany starting January 13 next year. This began with a training camp at the Union Hall within the Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmad Handball Center in Daeiyah, under the leadership of Icelandic coach Aron Kristansson and his national assistant, Ali Murad. The first gathering saw the attendance of most players, with the exception of those currently on overseas camps with their clubs. The technical staff decided to call up eight new players to the Blue squad to assess their levels and technical capabilities, following their performances in the resumed general league and the Union Cup competitions.

During the first phase of training, the technical staff focused on improving physical fitness through sessions held at the Union’s indoor gym. The second phase was dedicated to technical aspects, with an emphasis on shooting and speed drills, as part of efforts to prepare the players both physically and technically for the global tournament.

The Blue squad is preparing for its tenth World Championship appearance in its history. After being drawn in Group 4 alongside France, Argentina, and Brazil, the team will kick off its group stage campaign against France on January 14 next year in a tough test against one of the top contenders for the title. Meanwhile, both the Argentine and Brazilian teams have shown noticeable improvement in their performance levels in recent years.
