The second edition of the Gulf Cup for veteran players kicks off tomorrow in the Qatari capital, Doha, and will run until November 5. Kuwait’s national team, led by coach Thamer Anad and assistant Waleed Nassar, will begin its campaign with a 5:30 p.m. match against Saudi Arabia at the Saud bin Abdulrahman Stadium. This fixture is part of the first group stage, which also features a match between Iraq and Oman on the seventh. Meanwhile, Qatar will face Bahrain at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Hamad Stadium, followed by a 7:00 p.m. clash between the United Arab Emirates and Yemen at the same venue, as part of the second group.
The tournament’s group stage follows the same format as the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup, which concluded earlier in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Under the adopted regulations, matches consist of two halves of 20 minutes each, with unlimited substitutions allowed. In knockout stages, any match ending in a draw after regular time will proceed directly to a penalty shootout.
The two semi-finals are scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium. The tournament will conclude on Thursday, November 5, with the final at the Saud bin Abdulrahman Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
