Kuwait achieved exceptional results and a distinguished presence at the tenth season of the 2026 Arabic Reading Challenge, held in Dubai, by securing four top positions across the Arab world in its first participation, covering all categories of the competition within a single season. Mayar Othman, from the Arab Republic of Egypt, was crowned champion of the tenth edition of the competition, which is the largest Arabic reading event in the world.

Abdullah Al-Barrak, the General Coordinator of the Arabic Reading Challenge in Kuwait, told KUNA that Kuwait secured second place in the Outstanding Supervisor category through Ms. Badour Al-Asqa, among more than 162,000 supervisors, and third place in the Outstanding School category for Al-Yarmouk Girls’ Secondary School. Additionally, Abdullah Al-Mutairi took fourth place in the Participants with Special Needs category, while student Noor Al-Kandari ranked among the top ten in the Outstanding Student category.

Al-Barrak stated that this achievement is well-deserved and reflects the strong encouragement from the Minister of Education, who was keen on elevating Kuwait’s name and ensuring a distinctive participation, thereby highlighting the country’s prominent standing and presence at this major Arab forum. He noted that the Minister of Education personally congratulated the Outstanding Supervisor on her achievement, commended the Outstanding School, and urged it to continue its efforts in serving Kuwaiti youth. He also praised the distinguished presence of student Noor Al-Kandari and student Abdullah Al-Mutairi at the largest Arab reading forum.

Al-Barrak emphasized that this is the first time Kuwait has achieved such a feat, competing for the first time in a single season across all categories and securing top positions, which reflects the development of the reading movement in the country and the Ministry of Education’s commitment to nurturing talented and outstanding individuals in this field.
