A Kuwaiti medical project that relies on artificial intelligence for dental restoration has been ranked among the top seven Arab innovations, following the conclusion of the Arab Innovators and Creators Conference in the Omani capital, Muscat. Dr. Kawsar Ali, Assistant Professor at the College of Dentistry, Kuwait University, told KUNA on Wednesday that her project, which placed sixth in the Invention Structures and Innovations competition during the conference, is an application that uses artificial intelligence to determine a tooth’s restorability. She added that the application is built on research foundations and evidence drawn from clinical data and radiographs of patients whose outcomes were monitored to train the algorithms, noting that the experimental application achieved a high accuracy rate of 90 percent after internal validation research. She pointed out that the project had previously won local Kuwaiti awards in digital solutions, including the Nexus startup competition and a competition organized by the College of Life Sciences for participants in the Fourth Kuwait International Conference on Life Sciences. Dr. Ali expressed hope that her innovation will win international awards in the future and be implemented across all countries, starting with the Gulf Arab states, contributing to improved diagnostic accuracy, faster treatments, and streamlined workflows in clinics, laboratories, and entities linked to the healthcare sector.
