Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, met today, Wednesday, with the Foreign Minister of the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, during the former’s official visit to the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
According to a statement issued by Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Jaraah Al-Sabah reiterated Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against several areas in the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as their attempts to target the holy cities of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah. He stressed that these heinous attacks constitute a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, an overt infringement on the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and their religious status, and a provocation of Muslims’ sentiments worldwide.
He emphasized that the continuation and recurrence of these systematic hostile acts, which involve targeting civilian infrastructure and vital installations, represent a serious escalation and a direct threat to the security of the Kingdom and regional stability, as well as posing grave risks to the safety of civilians and the security of air navigation. This necessitates a firm international stance ensuring that those responsible for these attacks are held accountable and brought to justice.
Sheikh Jaraah reaffirmed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with and support for the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, backing all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability. He affirmed that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of Kuwait’s security and the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
The two sides also reviewed during the meeting the deep-rooted historical ties and the strong fraternal relations linking the two countries and their peoples. They reiterated their shared commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation and coordination frameworks across various fields and at all levels, in line with the directives of the wise leaderships of both countries and in response to their aspirations for greater integration and joint cooperation.
The meeting also addressed the latest regional developments and their repercussions on regional security and stability. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing Kuwaiti-Saudi consultation and coordination across various dimensions, and of intensifying joint efforts to confront current challenges amid the delicate circumstances facing the region, driven by a shared destiny and common interests, as well as the two sister countries’ determination to consolidate the foundations of regional security and stability.
