The Kuwait Competition Protection Authority delegation, led by Rashid Al-Ajmi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, will participate in the Seventh Arab Competition Forum held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on October 28–29, 2026, under the theme “Competition Policy in the Digital Age: Preserving Fairness and Equality in the Market.” The invitation was extended by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Competition Department of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism of the UAE, and in cooperation with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Competition Commission and Consumer Protection Committee of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The forum serves as a platform to examine competition developments in the Arab region and advance their enhancement through the engagement of relevant stakeholders. It also provides a shared space for dialogue, coordination, and cooperation on competition matters at both national and regional levels, with participation from representatives of competition authorities, government officials, and international and regional organizations.
This year’s forum focuses on the theme “Competition Policy in the Digital Age: Preserving Fairness and Equality in the Market,” and discusses prospects for fair, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth by strengthening the application of competition policy in digital and data-driven markets, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The participation of the Kuwait Competition Protection Authority offers a valuable opportunity to showcase the State of Kuwait’s experience and exchange expertise in this field. The sessions will address several topics, including proactive regulation and competition in digital markets, developing a coherent digital competition policy through regional cooperation, monitoring mergers in the digital sector, and institutional coordination between competition and consumer protection in the digital age, as well as next steps toward fair and competitive digital markets in the Arab region.
