The Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army – announced on Monday that the Royal Jordanian Air Force had carried out a special operation codenamed “Jordanian Deterrence – Hamouh,” targeting terrorist lairs in southern Syria in retaliation for the victims of the Hamouh church attack in Karak Governorate. In a statement, the armed forces said the operation was a response to the crime that occurred during a funeral at the Hamouh church in Karak last Friday, noting that the terrorists who carried out the attack were linked to the targeted terrorist groups. It added that Royal Jordanian Air Force fighter jets destroyed several terrorist sites, resulting in the killing and wounding of numerous members of these groups, as well as the destruction of some of their equipment. The armed forces affirmed that they remain on high alert against anyone who dares to threaten the security of citizens, emphasizing their resolve to continue eradicating the roots of extremism and terrorism, and to persist in fulfilling their duty to protect the country, its citizens, and its sanctuaries.
