The Judicial Editor – The State Security and Terrorism Crimes Court, presided over by Counselor Nasser Al-Badr and with counselors Omar Al-Mulifi, Abdullah Al-Fahad, and Salem Al-Zaid as members, sentenced three defendants to death in a case involving collusion with the banned Lebanese Hezbollah and plotting to assassinate state symbols and leaders. The court also sentenced eight other defendants to five years in prison.

The Public Prosecution charged the defendants with colluding with Iran and the banned Lebanese Hezbollah, seeking to carry out hostile acts against Kuwait, plotting to assassinate state symbols and leaders, joining a banned group, and harming the country’s national interests. The prosecution also charged one defendant with attempting to use explosives to carry out the operation and spread panic, while the eleventh defendant was charged with attempting to smuggle explosives to enable the group to execute their plan, according to the investigations.

In its reasoning, the court stated that the defendants attempted to undermine the country’s security, incite unrest in society, and shake public confidence in the authorities’ ability to safeguard security and protect lives and property. It emphasized that national security is not a private interest of an individual or a group, but a right of society as a whole, and that state sovereignty cannot be contested by foreign will, nor can orders issued from outside its borders be imposed on its territory, nor can its institutions and symbols of authority become targets for plans directed by foreign entities.
