The Egyptian parliament, with a two-thirds majority of its members, approved during its general session held today, Monday, to authorize the president to send military reinforcements to Saudi Arabia. The council had held two sessions on Sunday and Monday of last week, at the request of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, during which it heard representatives of parliamentary bodies and a large number of MPs from various political orientations. The vote was conducted by roll call, in accordance with the constitution.

The National Defense Council, chaired by el-Sisi, held a meeting last Sunday, where it reviewed all current regional developments and the serious developments affecting the region, particularly in light of the escalating unacceptable attacks against the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Based on this, the council decided the following:

1. Full solidarity and complete support for the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stemming from the historical ties and strong bonds between the peoples of the two fraternal countries, considered the heart of the Arab nation, and in recognition of the link between Saudi national security and Egyptian and Arab national security.

2. Providing all necessary and feasible forms of support to the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability, safeguard its resources, and protect its territory and Islamic holy sites.

3. Continuing and intensifying political and diplomatic efforts, in coordination with relevant regional and international parties, to contribute to de-escalation across the region and the peaceful resolution of the crises affecting the area.
