Minister of Social Affairs: Dissolving Boards of Cooperatives Violating Ministry Decisions

Faisal Matar: Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Child Development, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, affirmed that compliance with the ministry’s decisions and directives is not optional but a mandatory obligation for all boards of directors of cooperative societies, and there will be no leniency toward violators. Al-Huwail stressed the necessity of adhering to decisions on the Kuwaitization of jobs and the placement of national cadres, as well as compliance with the regulations and labor systems approved by the Public Authority for Manpower. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness within cooperative societies and central markets, and ensuring the quality, type, and safety of goods to protect consumers’ rights. She confirmed that any board of directors found to be non-compliant with ministerial directives and applicable requirements will face strict measures, including dissolution of the board in accordance with the law. She added that the ministry will continue its supervisory and field monitoring efforts to ensure the implementation of decisions, stressing that the phase of warnings without enforcement has ended, and accountability will be enforced on the ground, without exception or leniency.
