Trump: We can control all of Iran and will not attack it before the midterms

U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz and has the capacity to exert control over all of Iran, adding, “We can control all of its oil.” In remarks made on Friday before departing for Florida to participate in a campaign rally, Trump said, “We are having constructive talks with Iran, and we will not attack it before the midterm elections. We have done a very good job.” He further stated that “all the oil we want passes through the Strait of Hormuz,” noting that Iran is under a naval blockade, which the U.S. Navy has enforced effectively, and that the volume of oil transiting the strait exceeds pre-conflict levels. Trump also indicated that the United States could “resolve the Iran issue very quickly,” describing Iran as a “failed state” that “has no money.”
