Martyr Sultan Al-Qahtani: A Saudi hero who sacrificed his life for his country

Saudi hero Sultan Al-Qahtani etched his name in letters of light on the Roll of Martyrdom and Sacrifice after he rushed to help his colleagues extinguish a fire that broke out at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam following the Houthi attack yesterday. In a heroic act, Sultan and his colleagues quickly responded to the blaze before it could spread to an aircraft carrying passengers, but he suffered from smoke inhalation and was transferred to the German Hospital for treatment, before his soul returned to its Creator. The treacherous attack occurred while Sultan was on duty at the airport, where he participated in extinguishing the fire using fire extinguishers. His father, Ali Al-Qahtani, recounted the details of his son’s final moments, explaining that a missile or rocket caused the fire, and that Sultan took the initiative to tackle the flames before succumbing to smoke inhalation. Martyr Sultan leaves behind a family consisting of a wife and six children—two sons and four daughters—all of whom are at various stages of their education. His father noted that his eldest son is in the second grade of middle school, while the other son and their four daughters are in primary school. Sultan was known for his closeness to his family, his dedication to honoring his parents, and his frequent visits to his relatives. His mother, brothers, and sisters made sure to visit him, especially on Fridays, and his passing has left deep sorrow in the hearts of his family and loved ones. Ali Al-Qahtani concluded his remarks by praying for his son’s mercy and forgiveness, affirming his pride in his son’s stance and sacrifice, saying: “May God have mercy on him. He died a martyr, a martyr for the homeland.” Through his courageous act, Sultan Al-Qahtani immortalized his name among the heroes of sacrifice and selflessness, having given his life while fulfilling his duty and striving to protect others.
