State Minister for Development and Sustainability Dr. Reem Al-Faleh affirmed that Kuwait is advancing an institutional and integrated approach to climate action, based on coordinating national efforts, clarifying priorities, and linking climate commitments to the state’s implementation plans and projects, thereby ensuring that Kuwait’s participation in the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) reflects national interests and supports sustainable development pathways. This statement was made in a press remark while she chaired, on Tuesday, the third meeting of the Supreme Committee on Climate Change for 2026, as part of monitoring Kuwait’s national preparations for its participation in COP31 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled to be held in Antalya, Turkey, from November 9 to 20 next year.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed Kuwait’s proposed negotiating position on the key issues under discussion in international negotiation tracks, whether under the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol, or the Paris Agreement, reflecting national priorities and interests and enhancing Kuwait’s presence and active participation in international climate negotiations.
On another note, Al-Faleh stated that the creativity of persons with disabilities and their participation in environmental initiatives demonstrate their capacity to contribute to serving society and strengthening the culture of sustainability. This was said in a statement to KUNA on Wednesday, during the “Greening Day and Handmade Exhibition 9” event, organized by the Integrated Care Association for Persons with Disabilities (ICAN) in collaboration with the General Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources and the Al-Ahmadi Governorate, under the patronage of Al-Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamad Al-Jaber and a number of officials and stakeholders concerned with the affairs of persons with disabilities.
