Under the patronage and attendance of His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) hosted a dinner at the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Centre to mark the launch of its celebrations for the 50th anniversary of its establishment, and to honor its journey in supporting science, research, innovation, developing national capacities, disseminating knowledge, and serving development in the State of Kuwait.
In a press statement on Thursday, the Foundation said that the Prime Minister’s patronage of the occasion and his meeting with its staff reflect his continuous support for the Foundation and its scientific mission, as well as his appreciation for the efforts of its personnel and their contributions to its journey. It added that this visit strengthens communication with employees and serves as an incentive to continue giving back and to develop programs and initiatives that achieve tangible impact in society.
The Foundation clarified that the celebration represents a milestone for showcasing its journey since its establishment in 1976, and the achievements it has made in supporting scientific research, nurturing talent, building capacities, and establishing scientific partnerships, alongside highlighting the impact of its programs and initiatives on society and its future aspirations.
It noted that this occasion evokes a scientific legacy built by generations of employees, researchers, and partners, with continuous support from the private sector and in cooperation with government, academic, and research entities to serve national priorities.
The Foundation pointed out that the celebrations include a program of events and activities that document the key milestones of its journey and its contributions in the fields of science, technology, and innovation, and enhance communication with various segments of society. It added that the program also provides a platform for dialogue on the role of science and knowledge in facing challenges and building the future.
The Foundation emphasized that celebrating its 50th anniversary combines pride in the achievements made with a renewed commitment to its scientific mission within its strategic priorities (2025–2029) in supporting research and innovation and developing capacities, thereby contributing to empowering future generations and building a prosperous, resilient, and sustainable future.
It is worth noting that the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences was established in December 1976 on the initiative of the late Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as a non-profit private institution supported by Kuwaiti joint-stock companies, with the aim of advancing science, technology, and innovation and harnessing them to serve society.
