Artificial Intelligence Impairs the Human Mind

Artificial intelligence threatens the human mind's ability to think and create.
Translated by Qiyas from القبس — Original source
The Creator, Glorified and Exalted, endowed humans with the beauty of reason among His many other creations, to contemplate and understand the various aspects of their lives, particularly the scientific, literary, and cultural, as well as the practical and others. Thus, since the dawn of creation, reason has been humanity’s guide in its diverse pursuits, aiding people in discerning truth and following it, and avoiding falsehood. Were it not for this reason, humanity would not have reached the level of development, inventions, creativity, and civilization in all spheres of life that it enjoys today. Nor would societies have advanced or individuals progressed, had humans not harnessed human intellect for their personal and public services.
Today, artificial intelligence arrives as a heavy guest to human reason, causing its owner to cease thinking about everything he wishes to know. Even the color and style of his clothing have become matters for AI to decide. Artificial intelligence has become our savior in all matters we desire. All you need to do, O Arab brother, is initiate communication with it, pose your questions, and then “shibik labayk”—your intelligence is at your service; bring forth what you have, receive the answer, and close the door on all your doubts and unanswered questions.
The presence of artificial intelligence has rendered human reason obsolete, and enthusiasts of this technology have forgotten that human reason was, is, and will remain the source of creativity, invention, happiness, and progress in all aspects of life. Were it not for human reason, humanity would not have achieved today’s ease of connection, communication, and ability to distinguish truth from falsehood. Therefore, we must not sever our relationship with artificial intelligence due to its role in our lives. Although artificial intelligence is a human creation, interacting with it is necessary. Even though it often fails to provide what we want—since information may be incorrect or incomplete—this is where the role of human reason comes in, through research and verification, to reach what we seek. Otherwise, what is the purpose of the intellects with which the Creator, Glorified and Exalted, has endowed us, so that we may reflect upon the secrets of life and the power of the Creator in this vast universe?
Human reason is thinking itself; without it, there would be no difference between the sane and the insane. When humans rely on artificial intelligence to handle their calculations and other tasks, leaving their minds in the refrigerator, this intellect becomes subject to forgetfulness, and perhaps even senility, just like a car battery that, if unused, must be replaced. But the question remains: Can human reason be replaced? And where is it sold? Long may you live.
