A senior official in Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy announced that, on Wednesday morning, air defenses intercepted a drone attempting to target one of the facilities at the Shaybah oil field, operated by Saudi Aramco in the Eastern Province. The incident sparked a fire in a vehicle belonging to a contractor working at the field, outside the facility’s perimeter, without affecting operational activities. The Saudi Press Agency quoted the official as saying that relevant authorities had begun responding to the incident and taking necessary measures. The attack resulted in the deaths of two residents, one Filipino and one Nepali, and injuries to two others, one Pakistani and one Indian. The official expressed sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a swift recovery.
