State Minister for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, presented a visual presentation to the Council of Ministers regarding periodic reports on waste management and utilization, as part of the state’s efforts to enhance environmental sustainability, conserve natural resources, reduce pollution, develop the waste management system, and maximize resource recovery in line with the latest global practices.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday, Dr. Al-Faleh stated that the presentation outlined 29 projects undertaken by relevant government entities, along with their implementation status, specified timelines, and key obstacles and challenges facing project completion.

She added that the presentation highlighted the efforts of the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs in developing a unified electronic system to monitor projects, thereby enhancing coordination among government entities, clarifying jurisdictions, and tracking adherence to set timelines in support of achieving environmental sustainability goals.

Dr. Al-Faleh further noted that the presentation covered waste utilization pathways, including recycling, producing alternative fuels, reusing treated wastewater, and processing various types of waste, all of which support the circular economy, reduce waste, improve the efficiency of natural resource use, and enhance sustainability.

She emphasized that these efforts are implemented in accordance with Council of Ministers Decision No. (905/2nd), issued on August 20, 2024, and as part of government initiatives to develop an integrated and sustainable waste management system that maximizes utilization and serves Kuwait’s environmental objectives.
