Under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousuf Al-Saud Al-Sabah, the General Department for Combating Narcotics apprehended a Turkish national truck driver in possession of 300,000 tablets of Captagon, with a market value exceeding half a million dinars. The Ministry of Interior stated that the operation was conducted in the presence of Major General Fahad Al-Badr, Head of the Criminal Security Sector, Major General Mohammed Qabazard, Director General of the General Department for Combating Narcotics, and Major General Hamad Al-Sabah, Assistant Director General of the same department.
In a statement, the ministry clarified that the arrest took place in the Kabd area following investigative efforts, during which the narcotic tablets were discovered concealed in a secret manner inside the truck’s spare tire, using an insulating material to hide them. The General Fire Force was called upon to cut open the tire and extract the seized items.
Upon questioning, the suspect admitted to transporting the tablets from one of the neighboring countries through a border crossing while entering the country on a transit visa aboard the truck he was driving. Coordination was also established with the anti-narcotics agency in the suspect’s country of origin. The suspect and the seized drugs were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal action against him.
For his part, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf affirmed that security agencies are continuing to dismantle drug smuggling networks and confront all their methods, pursuing those involved without leniency. He emphasized that protecting society and its members from this scourge is a security priority, and that any attempts to smuggle drugs into the country will be met with resolute measures.
