Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jaber Al-Jaber chaired Kuwait’s delegation participating in the 168th session of the GCC Ministerial Council, held today, Sunday, in the sister Kingdom of Bahrain. The Foreign Ministry said in a press statement that the meeting discussed ways to enhance the trajectory of joint Gulf cooperation, contributing to greater integration among GCC member states across various fields. It also noted that the participants discussed current regional developments and their implications at the regional and international levels, emphasizing the importance of continuing GCC coordination across different dimensions amid the delicate circumstances facing the region, based on shared destiny and common history, and to bolster efforts to address existing challenges.
On another front, Sheikh Jaber chaired Kuwait’s delegation at the ninth joint ministerial meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Russian Federation, held in Bahrain. The Foreign Ministry stated that the foreign ministers of the GCC member states, together with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, affirmed the robustness of the relationship between the GCC states and the Russian Federation, as well as the historical friendship ties between the two sides. They discussed ways to enhance Gulf-Russian relations and expand cooperation into broader and more comprehensive fields that serve mutual interests. The ministry also noted that regional and international issues and current developments in the region and their implications were discussed, along with frameworks to intensify coordination between the GCC states and the Russian Federation regarding various challenges facing the region and the world, and to advance peacebuilding efforts.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Sheikh Jaber met with Lavrov, during which the historic bilateral relations between the two friendly countries were reviewed, along with ways to enhance and develop them across various fields, in addition to discussing current regional developments and their implications at the regional and international levels.
