Egypt's National Defense Council Decides to Provide All Forms of Support to Saudi Arabia

The Egyptian National Defense Council, during its meeting today on Sunday, resolved to stand in full solidarity and complete support for Saudi Arabia, based on the historical ties and strong bonds linking the peoples of the two brotherly countries, and in recognition of the interconnection between Saudi national security and Egyptian and Arab national security. The Council also decided to provide all necessary and feasible forms of support to the Kingdom to defend its security and stability, safeguard its resources, protect its territory and Islamic holy sites, and to continue and intensify political and diplomatic efforts, in coordination with relevant regional and international parties, in a manner that contributes to de-escalation across the region and the peaceful resolution of the crises affecting the area.

The Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, chaired the Council meeting, attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministers of Interior, Finance, Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, the Director-General of General Intelligence, the heads of the main branches of the Armed Forces, the Head of the Armed Forces Operations Authority, and the Head of Military Intelligence, with the Secretary-General of the National Defense Council present.

For his part, the official spokesperson for the Presidential Affairs Office stated that the National Defense Council reviewed all current regional developments and the serious situations unfolding in the region, particularly in light of the escalating unacceptable attacks targeting the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
