GCC Secretary General: Bahrain to Host 168th Ministerial Council Meeting Tomorrow

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Al-Budaiwi, announced on Saturday that the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the 168th GCC Ministerial Council meeting on Sunday, chaired by Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, who holds the current rotating chairmanship of the Ministerial Council, with the attendance of the foreign ministers of the GCC member states.
In a statement, Al-Budaiwi said the meeting would discuss a number of topics and files related to enhancing joint Gulf cooperation, as well as the latest developments on the regional and international fronts. He added that the Ninth Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the GCC and Russia would be held on the sidelines of the gathering.
He clarified that the joint meeting comes in line with the high directives of the GCC leaders aimed at consolidating relations with various countries and regional blocs, and building effective strategic partnerships that enhance the Gulf presence on the international stage.
He noted that the meeting would discuss several items on the agenda to explore ways to increase joint cooperation and exchange views on a number of regional and international issues.
Al-Budaiwi affirmed that both sides have continued since signing the memorandum of understanding for strategic dialogue in November 2011 to enhance their joint efforts to advance Gulf-Russian relations toward broader horizons, serving mutual interests in all fields.
