Sisi Demands Parliament Convene Emergency Session to Take Action in Defense of Saudi Arabia

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi affirmed on Saturday Egypt’s full support for the protection of the Gulf states’ territories, stressing that Cairo will not tolerate any infringement on the security or stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. El-Sisi said that Egypt does not seek to create a role for itself, but rather acts out of its responsibility toward the security of its brotherly nations, calling on all parties in the Gulf to work to halt the war and extinguish the flames of conflict. He added that, in accordance with the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Egypt will carry out any necessary measures to protect and defend Saudi Arabia, noting that any such action may require approval from the Egyptian parliament. El-Sisi called for the parliament to convene in an emergency session to grant the necessary authorization if requested, emphasizing that the objective is to defend and protect Saudi territories, not to engage in war for the sake of escalation.
