May Al-Sukkar - Lebanese Ambassador to Kuwait Ghadi Al-Khoury affirmed that Kuwait represents a primary destination for enhancing academic and educational cooperation with Lebanon, stressing that Lebanese universities possess competitive attributes that combine high-quality education, diverse specializations, and appropriate tuition and living costs, making them a worthy option for Kuwaiti and Gulf students.
This statement came during an exhibition organized by the Lebanese Embassy today at its premises, under the patronage of Al-Khoury, and with the participation of nine Lebanese universities, aimed at introducing students to educational opportunities and academic programs available in Lebanon, and strengthening cultural exchange and educational cooperation between the two countries.
Al-Khoury emphasized that the exhibition is an important milestone in the journey of educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries, reflecting the depth of the historical and fraternal relations uniting Lebanon and Kuwait, which are founded on love, respect, and mutual cooperation.
Regarding the message Lebanon conveys through this exhibition, Al-Khoury said, “The message is that Lebanon, despite all the challenges it has faced, remains committed to its pioneering role in the fields of education and culture, and that investment in human capital and knowledge remains one of its most important sources of strength.”
On the fields and specializations targeting the needs of the Kuwaiti and Gulf job markets, Al-Khoury stated, “Amid the rapid transformations witnessed by labor markets, particularly in Gulf countries, Lebanese universities are developing programs in emerging fields, including artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, digital technology, business administration, health sciences, and environmental sustainability.”
He noted that the exhibition provides students and their parents with the opportunity for direct communication with university representatives, to learn about admission and registration conditions, tuition fees, as well as scholarship opportunities, discounts, and facilities that some universities may offer according to their specific regulations.
Regarding how to reassure Kuwaiti families about the quality of education and the stability of the academic journey amid the challenges Lebanon has faced in recent years, and the guarantees concerning degree recognition and academic accreditation, Al-Khoury said, “Lebanon faced significant economic, financial, and security challenges, which impacted various sectors, including higher education. However, Lebanese universities have made efforts to maintain the continuity and academic level of education, relying on their experience and the competencies of their educational and administrative staff.”
He added, “We fully understand the concern of Kuwaiti families regarding the academic and professional future of their children. Therefore, we stress the importance of verifying the legal status of each university and the academic accreditation of the intended study program.”
He further stated, “We affirm our full respect for the regulations and standards adopted by the relevant Kuwaiti authorities, foremost among them the Ministry of Higher Education and the National Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education.”
He continued, “We also encourage students and parents to verify recommended universities and specializations, and to obtain the required official approvals before registration, as recognition of a university does not necessarily mean that all its programs and academic degrees are accredited or recommended in Kuwait.”
