Trump faces wide criticism after posting AI video of him fighting a tiger

U.S. President Donald Trump faced sharp criticism after sharing a video showing a man who died after being attacked by a tiger at a wildlife park in Britain, despite police appeals not to circulate the footage. Trump posted the video on Tuesday via his Truth Social platform, adding a comment that read: “Never mess with nature.” The post sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with users describing Trump’s actions as “shameful” and “despicable,” condemning the publication of the young man’s death despite his family’s request not to share it. Trump followed this with another post featuring a compiled video clip that appeared to show a series of incidents involving attacks by predatory animals on people, accompanied by upbeat background music. On Wednesday morning, Trump posted another AI-generated video showing him playing with a tiger. These posts came after the identity of the young man who died after entering the tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster on Saturday was revealed as William Chapman, 23. In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, Chapman’s family said that William had suffered from “severe mental illness for several years” and was taking strong medication. The family called for an end to the circulation of videos of the incident, emphasizing that its spread was causing them “great distress at an extremely difficult time.” They added: “William was a smart, friendly, and beloved young man, and his family loved him deeply, and he loved them in return.” They further noted that his severe mental illness over several years had led to him being prescribed strong medication, and pointed out that the coroner would determine the role his health condition and medications may have played in his death. The family concluded their statement by urging everyone to respect the process and to stop sharing videos and images related to the incident.
