The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, one of the centers under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has announced the opening of registration for the national qualifying examination for the 2027 International Mathematical Olympiad. In a statement issued today (Tuesday), the center said the program aims to identify outstanding Kuwaiti students in mathematics and prepare them to compete for the opportunity to represent Kuwait at the 68th International Mathematical Olympiad, scheduled to be held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, from July 16 to 26, 2027. It clarified that the program targets Kuwaiti students in the ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades, both boys and girls, enrolled in government and private schools, who demonstrate a passion for mathematics, as well as logical thinking and creative analytical abilities, along with proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Registration began yesterday via the center’s official website, with dates and details of the program’s stages to be announced later. The center noted that the initiative is part of its efforts to support gifted students, develop their scientific capabilities, and provide them with the opportunity to participate in one of the most prominent international mathematics competitions for secondary school students. It further indicated that the center offers incentive awards to participants and high achievers, including financial rewards for medalists (gold, silver, and bronze) and recipients of honorable mention certificates at the Olympiad, as well as bonuses for students who achieve outstanding results in training examinations and attend training sessions in accordance with specified standards.
