The Al-Ajiri Scientific Center announced that the Wasm season will begin in Kuwait and the region the day after tomorrow (Thursday), marking the start of a transitional period characterized by mild daytime weather and cooler nights, typically associated with rainfall. In a press statement, the center said the season lasts 52 days, divided into four astronomical mansions, each lasting 13 days: Al-Awaa, Al-Simak, Al-Ghifar, and Al-Zubana.
It added that a prominent feature of the season is the sun’s continued shift toward the south and the decreasing angle of its rays, which reduces daytime heating hours and paves the way for a gradual moderation in temperatures. The center clarified that the beginning of the season, with the mansion of Al-Awaa, is marked by mild daytime weather and cold nights, along with shorter days and longer nights, later sunrise and earlier sunset, as well as the continued migration of birds.
It pointed out that the Wasm season is linked to rainfall, which contributes to the germination of wild plants and the revival of vegetation cover. Its appearance is also associated with the emergence of kamah (wild mushrooms), depending on prevailing rainfall conditions.
For his part, meteorological expert Issa Ramadan said that maximum temperatures recorded a noticeable rise during October, with a clear delay in their decline, noting that they exceeded the normal rates for this time of year and reached very high levels. He added that the maximum temperature at Kuwait International Airport reached 43 degrees Celsius, considering this a clear indicator of the “advance of the seasons.”
