The Quartet Condemns Houthi Militia Attacks on Saudi Arabia

The Quartet (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey) strongly condemned the ongoing hostile attacks launched by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, including the heinous attacks that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in the death and injury of several civilians, as well as damage to infrastructure and civilian facilities. This constitutes a blatant violation of international law. In a joint statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, the Quartet countries affirmed that these attacks represent a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, a direct threat to its security and stability and the safety of civilians, and a serious escalation that cannot be justified or accepted under any pretext. The Quartet also expressed its full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all legitimate steps and measures taken to confront these attacks, deter the sources of threat, and prevent their recurrence, in defense of the Kingdom’s security and territorial integrity, and to protect the safety of its citizens and residents, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law. The group held the Houthi militia fully responsible for these attacks and their repercussions, which threaten regional and international peace and security, and called for an immediate and unconditional halt to these attacks.
