Saudi Arabia: 3 dead, 36 injured in attacks on Abha and Riyadh airports

The General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia announced that on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 6 and 7, 2026, Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport were subjected to attacks targeting their facilities. Emergency response teams and relevant authorities immediately began handling the incidents in accordance with established procedures and plans.
In a statement, the Authority added that the blatant attack on Abha International Airport resulted in the deaths of two residents, one Moroccan and one Algerian, and 28 injuries among two citizens and residents, one Bangladeshi and one Filipino; their injuries ranged from minor to severe. Meanwhile, the attack on King Khalid International Airport resulted in the death of one Sudanese resident and eight injuries, including five citizens and two Egyptian residents, and one Pakistani resident; their injuries also ranged from minor to severe.
It noted that all the injured were promptly transferred to hospitals to receive necessary medical care. The attacks also caused some material damage. The Authority is working in coordination and continuous cooperation with relevant security agencies to assess the damages and take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and staff, and to maintain the security and safety of the Kingdom’s civil aviation system.
