Saudi Cabinet reaffirms support for Yemeni legitimacy to end Houthi militia coup

The Saudi Cabinet affirmed on Tuesday the Kingdom’s full support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the legitimate government, and the Yemeni people in ending the coup and restoring the state and its institutions from the terrorist Houthi militia, which has chosen military escalation as an alternative to peace. The Saudi Press Agency quoted Saudi Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari as saying that this statement came during a meeting convened by the Saudi Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, in Riyadh.

The Saudi Cabinet stressed that the Houthi militia continues to deepen the humanitarian and economic suffering in Yemen, while threatening the region, maritime navigation in the southern Red Sea, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The Cabinet commended the outcomes of the emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the GCC Defense Alliance, which reaffirmed solidarity among the three countries and their unified stance in confronting attacks on the Kingdom, including those targeting Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, civilians, and civil and economic infrastructure.

The Saudi Cabinet also welcomed the agreement reached during the meeting to activate collective deterrence and to immediately move to the practical implementation of joint defense commitments, thereby enhancing readiness, military integration, and the capacity to counter such threats.
