Joint Statement from the Mecca Alliance: Deployment of Troops and Military Capabilities Rapidly in Saudi Arabia

The Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Defense Pact decided to immediately move to the practical implementation of collective defense commitments, and to take the necessary measures to provide the agreed-upon forces and military capabilities and rapidly deploy them in the Kingdom, in accordance with the approved arrangements and the national legislations of the State Parties, thereby enhancing readiness, military integration, and collective capacity to confront and counter threats. The State Parties, in their meeting held today in Saudi Arabia, affirmed that the security of each State Party is an integral part of the collective security of the three states, and that translating the Mecca Collective Defense Agreement into practical measures embodies the credibility of the commitment to collective defense, enhances the effectiveness of deterrence, and underscores the unity of the three states and their resolve to defend their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement. The Committee reviewed the outcomes of the political and military consultations that preceded the meeting and approved the recommendations submitted to it, reaffirming that the Mecca Defense Pact embodies a firm commitment to collective defense and a unified stance in confronting threats. The Committee also discussed security developments and threats facing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As part of the institutional building of the Mecca Defense Pact, the Committee decided to appoint Lieutenant General (Retired) Noman Mahmood of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as the first Secretary-General for a term of three years. The State Parties strongly condemned the attempt to target the Holy Mecca and Medina, as well as the continued attacks targeting cities and civilian and economic facilities in the Kingdom, reiterating their firm rejection of any aggression or threat to the Kingdom’s security and territorial integrity. Pakistan and Turkey commended the vigilance and readiness of the Saudi Armed Forces, as well as the professional performance and high competence they demonstrated in confronting threats and aggressions facing the Kingdom and safeguarding its security and territorial integrity. For his part, Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman affirmed the activation of collective deterrence against aggressions on the Kingdom and the Holy Sites within the framework of the Mecca Pact. He noted that the emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Defense Pact embodies the solidarity of the Pact’s member states and their standing as one united front to confront unjust aggressions. He added that the meeting reaffirmed that our countries stand united and that collective deterrence is being activated against any aggression on the Kingdom.
