Emergency Meeting of the Mecca Alliance in Riyadh

The foreign ministers and defense ministers, along with the chiefs of general staff of the Mecca Alliance, held an emergency meeting in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Monday, as part of the “Mecca Alliance Treaty for Joint Defense.” According to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler, and Chief of the General Staff, General Salih Suleyman Kirpici, participated in the meeting of the Political, Strategic and Defense Committee. The treaty, which reflects a shared vision among Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, aims to enhance the security of the three countries and support regional security and stability through joint deterrence and defense. The Political, Strategic and Defense Committee comprises the foreign ministers, defense ministers, and chiefs of staff of the three countries. The committee held its first meeting in Istanbul on August 31, where it adopted foundational decisions regarding the establishment of the alliance, with the establishment of its secretariat in Riyadh expected soon. Additionally, the foreign ministers of the three countries held a meeting in New York on September 24, followed by a meeting of their chiefs of staff in Riyadh on September 25 of the same month.
