"Social Security": Disbursing Suspended Installments to Those Stripped of Citizenship

Ali Al-Khalidi: Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, and Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, Abdulaziz Al-Murrouq, issued a decision stipulating the resumption of payments suspended due to the revocation of Kuwaiti citizenship from deceased insured persons or pensioners, to their rightful beneficiaries, in accordance with the provisions of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law and the controls set forth in the decision. The decision provided for the continuation of payments to rightful beneficiaries from the date of suspension, in line with Article 13, paragraph 4 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law, conditional on the deceased’s name being included in the lists prepared by the Nationality Committee. The decision also established specific controls regarding marriage grants, stipulating that the grant stipulated in Article 71 of the Law shall not be paid to a daughter, sister, or niece entitled to the pension when payments are suspended due to marriage. Furthermore, it provided that the resumed payments shall not be subject to the annual increase.
