Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy: Continuing Support for Yemeni Government to End Houthi Coup

Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Coalition Support Forces for the Legitimate Government in Yemen, stated that the Coalition’s joint command continues to provide full operational support to the Yemeni Armed Forces and remains steadfast in its backing of Yemen’s legitimate government and the fraternal Yemeni people, in order to end the coup, restore the state and its national institutions, and build Yemen’s future.

General Al-Maliki clarified that the ongoing terrorist attacks and repeated practices by the Houthi terrorist militia against the fraternal Yemeni people—including internal sieges, forced displacement of citizens from their cities and villages, starvation, looting and dividing their resources, and diverting them to what they call the “war effort,” as well as insulting tribal elders and members and tearing apart the social fabric of Yemeni society across all its segments, terrorizing women, and recruiting children for their criminal project—constitute blatant violations that have brought calamities and suffering to Yemenis for many years.

He added that the Houthi terrorist militia’s attacks on the Kingdom, its attempts to target the holy capital (Makkah al-Mukarramah) and the city of the Prophet’s Messenger (Madinah al-Munawwarah), and the deliberate and systematic targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure in several cities of the Kingdom (Riyadh, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif, and Yanbu), as well as attempts to target the Kingdom’s ships in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, necessitate the continuation of necessary and required measures to deter the hostile actions of the Houthi terrorist militia, with the aim of protecting the Kingdom’s security and sovereignty, as well as regional and international security.

General Al-Maliki affirmed the Kingdom’s inherent right to defend its sovereignty and protect its security, and to take all operational measures to deter this militia and halt its serious violations, in light of its national responsibility toward the Two Holy Mosques, its citizens, its national endowments, and residents on its territory. He also emphasized the Kingdom’s continued support for Yemen and its fraternal people until the state and its institutions are restored, the Houthi terrorist militia is eliminated, and its threat to freedom of navigation in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait is ended. He noted that this threat undermines regional and international security, jeopardizes freedom of navigation and international trade, strikes at the lifeblood of the global economy, and affects regional and international security and the national interests of all countries.
